District Grant Project Final Report – Obstacle Course at Ebor Public School.

D9650 Rotary Foundation – District Grant Project Final Report – Obstacle Course at Ebor Public School.

Project Description

  1. Describe the project. What is being done, and where are the project activities taking place? If this is a progress report, what remains to be done?
To install an obstacle style course in the school grounds of Ebor Public School, made from cuts/blocks of timber, which will require financing.  They have huge grounds at the school, and they are mostly bare, with not much for the students to play on.

Location – Ebor Public School; Objective – Play and Physical fitness – Progress report

A working bee was held at the school in December 2019 to clean-up the school grounds and prepare the grounds for completion of the obstacle course. The work is now completed in 2021 by the school P&C Association and the final funding for the course has been provided by the Club to the school to enable this work to be completed. Because of the implications of Coronavirus no access could be given to Club members as volunteers so the work was done wholly by the Ebor community.

2. How many people will benefit from this project? 30 students and their families per annum
  1. Who will be the beneficiaries?
The whole school community of Ebor.

4. How many Rotarians are participating in the project? 15
  1. What are they doing?
They worked with the school on the initial design of the obstacle course and then with the purchase and delivery of materials. The school purchased the material with money supped by the Rotary club.

The community members completed the construction over a weekend in June of the obstacle course.

  1. If a cooperating organization is involved, what is its role?
The Ebor Public school and its Principal Lee Rose are coordinated the activities between the school, its community and the Rotary Club, to meet COVID-19 conditions set out by the Education Department.
